Mick Wainman

A one-time sound engineering student, Mick’s first industry gig was as a Music Research Coordinator for WPYX, Albany, and then at PYX-106 where he oversaw an in-house research staff. He’s worked with Sky Records until its purchase and as US tour manager for Epic Records band Hollyfaith. In 1993, Mick launched the promotion company, Guerrilla Man, which cut its teeth with indies and college radio and ultimately led to projects with Kid Rock, Mudhoney, and Amy Ray’s Daemon Records. After years of hard work and endless hours on the phone, he and promotion guru Al Moss received The 1999 Gavin “Independent Promotion of the Year” award for Americana. Mick launched DMM in 2003 with digital distributer eMusic, and Landslide Records as their first client. The company has since licensed 60+ label catalogs, clients including Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, and thousands of tracks to all major download sites, digital jukebox, and on-demand services.
