Launched by music industry marketing and promotions veteran Mick Wainman in 2003, Digital Music Marketing is a major force in online marketing and digital distribution systems for a wide variety of artists, labels and recordings in the independent music community. Though the company has direct distribution deals with such major online outlets as iTunes, Amazon, emusic, Napster and Rhapsody, DMM offers a unique boutique approach that integrates a music business mentality with a focus on the artist, their music and needs of the record label. Wainman and DMM Digital Marketing Coordinator, Rachel Irimescu - who joined the company in 2007—specialize in assessing and responding to their artists’ individual requirements, formulating effective plans of action that draw from a broad range of music business experience and deep industry relationships, many extending back to the pre-digital age of the early 1990s, when Wainman worked radio promotion and Irimescu was cutting her teeth in show production and street marketing trenches.

While keeping the company small and working with a handful of labels as their digital service provider, DMM is positioning itself as a leader in online marketing and consultation services. Wainman and Irimescu promote and market intelligent music created by independent recording artists and labels appealing to an adult leaning audience – people who enjoy new music but aren’t finding it via traditional outlets.  Currently, DMM is in the process of re-designing a more comprehensive Digital Music Marketing website to educate potential customers, promote the company and provide news about its artists and the industry. As DMM looks to the future, it seeks to incorporate new techniques to direct market their client’s projects and provide a broader range of interdependent services such as website, graphic design and internet technology, production and pre-production services.
